Shell, Exxon and Petrom will extract shale gas in the Black Sea

The Bulgarian Government has banned the production of shale gas in the Black Sea out of fear for the environment.

The  Romania  decided to postpone to another time developing of the Black Sea shelf.     Chevron's should use this time  to fulfill the requirements of environmental protection.

Only the Ukrainian government does not impose any requirements for the protection of the environment.

Recently Ukrainians sold shelf area for shale gas. Bought it:

Royal Dutch Shell

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Ukraine BV

Petrom (Romania, a subsidiary of OMV - Austria)

NAK Nadra Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government needs to immediately start producing gas. Local environmental organizations of Ukraine react sluggishly to these statements. Media are passionate about the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Nobody asks the question - what is the risk of drilling activities for the nature of the Black Sea.

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources says that the sea is not threatened. I do not believe it. 

The task of the agency - the distribution and sale of natural resources and protection of the environment. But how can an official with one hand to distribute the bowels and get the benefit, and the other hand - will protect the environment?

Consequences of shale gas production in the sea unknown, but on dry land shale gas production in the U.S. has caused debate.

Правительство Румынии разработку Черноморского шельфа отложили на два года.Компании Chevron это время понадобится, чтобы выполнить предписания по защите окружающей среды. 

И только правительство Украины никаких требований по защите экологии не выдвигает.

Недавно украинцы продали участок шельфа для добычи сланцевого газа.

Правительство Украины требует немедленно приступать к добыче газа. Местные экологические организации Украины вяло реагируют на эти заявления. Масс-медиа увлечены предстоящими выборами в парламент.

Никто не задает вопрос – чем обернется для Черного моря буровая деятельность.

Министр экологии и природных ресурсов уверяет, что морю ничего не угрожает. В это слабо верится. Задача этого ведомства – распределение и продажа природных ресурсов, и защита экологии. Но разве может чиновник одной рукой раздавать недра, получая выгоду, а другой – защищать экологию, рискуя этой выгодой?

Первую дыру в шельфе консорциум обещает сделать до конца этого года.
